School, Bedouin, and more...

Todas language of the day: Hungarian, brought to by Lauren Alkan

Viszontlatasra, (Hello)

Hows it going everybody, my life is good and Israel is fantastic. We just got back from the Bedouin tent free weekend and it was really fun. I'll give you a full rundown of the events over the weekend. It started out on Friday morning with all of us having a large unit test for our CORE class. It was very hard and long, but I am so glad it is over now, and when it ended I felt like this huge weight was lifted off of my shoulders. After the four hour long test, where I wrote the equivalent of a short novel for the written portion of the test, I packed for the weekend and tried to bring as little as possible. We then got on the bus and after 2 hours landed in our destination, the Bedouin tent area. It was not a full-blown Bedouin experience because it was at a tourist place that is set up to act like a Bedouin experience. What I am trying to say is that we did not exactly sleep in shacks and have no running water. Once we got there though we had a spiritual gathering, and once again we were able to wander off into the desert and reminisces about our lives/ the trip. Everyone found a spot to sit down in the desert, everyone except for me. When asked to go find a quiet place to sit I chose to just keep on walking. I had no worries, I wasn't thinking about anything; my mind was completely blank. I walked with my head arched upwards looking at the fantastically vivid constellations and stars. It was beautiful and made me feel thankful for everything that I have in life. Once walking got boring I chose to make a Sukkah/castle structure in the middle of the desert, just in case I come back to the same spot one day when I'm older. I pulled together all of the large flat rocks that I could find and began building my masterpiece. By the time I was done it was up to my waist, I was truly proud of what I had built, I think I would be a great rock architect when I get older. Then I realized I had been out and away from the group for a good period of time, they were supposed to play music, but I did not here anything. I made the trek back anyways, tripping over almost every rock that was in my path. As I was walking all of a sudden I hear a faint sound that seemed very far away. As I made my way closer to the sound I noticed my whole group circled up, and my two counselors searching the desert with flashlights, I had no idea why they were doing that. I slipped into the circle very smoothly, but I guess not smooth enough because as soon as I entered everyone began laughing and asking where I was. The only thought in my head was "I ruined a spiritual experience, but it was worth it because I got some laughs out of it.":) Then we all went to dinner. Thats all I have to say. It was so good, and I ate so much that I am still full. The meal was two days ago... After dinner we went to bed and the night consisted of a lot of people talking and snoring in their sleep, lets just say I did not get that much sleep. The next morning we rode camels and did a nice hike up a mountain type thing. It was a good hike and the camel ride was nice, except for the fact that the camel ride was before the hike and I sat on the camel weird so my but hurt for most of the day. After the hike we went to Tel Aviv port and walked around for a while. I had been there before, It kind of reminded me of South Africa because the way it looked and how they incorporated the ocean into the area. The South Africa port is better.. After we chilled in Tel Aviv we took an hour to get home. When we got home we began to make dinner for a girl on our trips birthday, Emily Weinberg. We made Poika and Peda on a fire pit in the parking lot. Poika is like a stew mixture thingamajig with onions, potatopes, carrots, chicken, coca-cola(ya sounds nasty), and a lot of other delicacies. It was delicious and would eat the same thing every single day. Also I made a huge Peda that was exquisite. After the filling yet superb meal I made the journey towards bedtime and we went to bed listened to music, the last song was Who Says by John Mayer.

Viszontlatasra(Goodbye)
